SAN FRANCISCO (October 29, 2008) – Morrison & Foerster LLP secured a major victory for Pioneer Corporation in a patent infringement suit against Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and its affiliates. A jury in the U.S. District Court in Eastern District of Texas decided three Samsung entities had willfully infringed the patents in suit and awarded $59.3 million in compensatory damages to Pioneer Corporation.

Partner Harold McElhinny from Morrison & Foerster LLP and principal Sam Baxter from McKool Smith co-led the winning trial team. Morrison & Foerster partners Karen Hagberg, Andrew Monach, Peter Stern, and Taro Isshiki were key members of the trial team.
