Europe Overview

Morrison & Foerster has been providing legal services in Europe since 1980. Today we have over 60 lawyers, qualified in Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, the UK and the U.S., operating from offices in London and Brussels. These lawyers advise on all aspects of corporate, finance, securities and commercial transactions; EU competition law; taxation; EU IT regulation and IP litigation; privacy and employment law; as well as offering specialist capabilities in litigation and dispute resolution.

Achievements

  • Legal 500 2008 recommends the London Flotations; M&A Venture capital; Fraud: commercial and regulatory investigations; Fraud: crime; Debt capital markets; Derivatives and structured products; Employment; IT and telecoms; and Pharmaceuticals and biotechnology practices. Fourteen of our London partners are mentioned in this year's guide, with three singled out as “Leading” lawyers.
  • Chambers UK 2008 recognises our London Corporate Finance, Information Technology, Life Sciences and Business Process Outsourcing practices and identifies five of our partners as “Leaders in their fields.”
  • Legal 500 2008 recommends our Brussels office for EU Competition law, with two of our partners in the Belgium office listed in the European guide.
  • Life Sciences Practice in England & Wales rated by PLC Global 50 with three partners identified as “star lawyers.”
  • Legal Media Group Expert Guide to Competition and Antitrust Lawyers rates our Brussels practice.

Diversity has been a central part of life at Morrison & Foerster for many years. Morrison & Foerster was one of the first law firms to address diversity issues across the full scope of its operations, and we continue to be recognised as a leader in diversity issues.

In our European offices, we play a full role in the Firm's diversity initiative. We have a local Diversity Committee, drawn from our European practice and including partners, associates and administrative staff - and we work hard to make sure that we recognise and respond to diversity issues.
